How do you top a stellar reader from the previous week? Invite sassy and quirky Melissa Crowe to spice up a poetry reading. The second reading of the series kicked off with five students reading their work, varying between fiction, non-fiction and poetry. After a brief introduction by instructor Jan Grieco, who had never met Crowe before the reading, Melissa enthusiastically engaged the crowd with humor, wit and tales of weird Uncles.

Crowe and the students then retired to Grieco’s classroom while to discuss the craft of writing. Melissa went through the steps in getting a poem published and engaged the students in conversation.

Next week Jen Blood will be making her first appearance at NMCC reading from her current hit novel All the Blue-Eyed Angels.
