I got off early from work today (whoohoo) so instead of going to the gym (inside) I went hiking (outside) because it’s the last week of Sept and it was almost 80!
The colors are starting to come in here, down state – I love orange leaves…..
Everyone is going to think I’ve a thing for mushrooms, I don’t – however! they are great to start learning the macro settings on my camera on
Moss – really, gorgeous!
This guy was nice enough to stay still for a few pics
Fog rolling in!
My childhood friend, Melissa, aka Mac, came to the Island this weekend. She too, has a lovely Canon Rebel and we spent all of Saturday running around taking pictures – here are mine
The village of Stonington, Maine is just – well – breathtaking
Playing with the macro attachments!
Perspective! AKA Belly time!
I dragged Mac over to Barred Island and we spent some fun time tripping over roots and checking out shadows and light
Macro! I never realized how pretty moss was.
I started playing with my F settings and exposure – a few of my photos were “washed” out – however, I was able to recover much of it with my photo editor.
This is how the sun hits pink granite on the – macro of x7
I saw this mushroom – and instantly I thought of the Smurfs – then I get up and Mac said the same thing. It’s amazing how sometimes we think alike!
To end the day (Before food that is!) we hit up Sand Beach – tide was still high – but it was still a breathtaking sight to see.
A picture is worth 1000 words
I purchased a set of Macro lens – so now I am looking at the world in a whole new way – mostly down on my belly or kneeling in the muck taking pics
I found this little guy crawling around on my porch last week. Oh so very slowly.
I have 4 different lenses – x10, x4, x2 and x1 – Autofocus is close to useless while using 10 – I can also stack them for more magnifications
I’m a “fan” of the whole focus/blur – so I use the P setting often – one thing off to the side, with the blur washing out to one side.
A few shots of a nice evening sunset on Deer Isle.
On some nights, you just know when the light is going to make the sky a fiery orange…..
Sometimes you take a few pictures and the light shifts again, different refractions on the sky, the water, on the atoms in the air….. and you come away with a whole different look….
Caterpillar Hill is a good climb and then you’re almost at Deer Isle, right after CH, you can stop at ECS – Eggemogin Country Store – where you can grab a slice of pizza, some great chicken nuggets, fresh subs or lobstah….
LONG distance view of the bridge
