Someone suggested to me to make a “best of” my photos. I have to be honest, that’s a LOT of pictures. So I’ll be doing this every last day of the month (if I can). I went all the way back (as far as I have saved) and rummaged around in my January folders.
Stormy, on the couch, where she shouldn’t have been!
My first time in Deer Isle, while working at the nursing home – I was there a short time – 9 weeks or so, but it’s a place I’ll definitely want to go back to again and again.
Snow Storms from HELL!
My 2nd time in Deer Isle (I just realized I spent two winters there in the last 3 years). So many pictures to pick from – but these are my faves.
You never know what you’ll find right in front of your face – I opened the door and – oh, wonder what that will look like up close
More of that sea fog, or mist, or – damn it, it’s cold!
Turkey! I never noticed the cool colors on these guys. This one below is cruising – check out the fly of snow at his feet. My friend, Ricky, told me to “bring him some!”
This is over in Blue Hill – near reversing falls – it’s totally frozen over – brrrr!
For weeks! I’d been passing this “crate Christmas tree”. First it was snowing, then it was cloudy, another day the sun was to low – but then, finally! Voila! Sun topper!
Then the next morning – this phenomenoun known as “sea fog” is what a patient called it – began – why, cuz it was so DARN COLD!!! 25 below. I mean, when the ocean freezes, that’s saying something, right?
Then a cold sunset! I hit up one place – not sure what cove its called (Weed or Webb, not sure!)
I bent down to pick up that lil sliver of GREEN sea glass (see it!) and thought – oh – frozen seaweed… what will look like up close…..
Echo didn’t not seem happy that I was leaving that afternoon. She was giving me those puppy dog eyes.
There was a weird, almost ethereal light on x-mas even – hard to capture at times.
Berries and snow!
On the drive up to the lake, that lovely light kept teasing me to take pictures.
So hard to get that sun flair!
And Sand Beach… a fave place for sunsets and this day it had snowed at high tide so the rocks has ‘white caps’
A play on perspective – the sun a fade and some red berries the focus…. I should have used the flash, but I still liked the result….
These guys are in Bar Harbor, they were toddling around on the ice so I thought I’d go over and snap a few pics of them – and the bridge
The night of the “big” moon. So I don’t have an ND filter (next on the list!) so that I can leave my aperture open for longer and not let in as much light and gain the shadows of the craters of the moon. But this came out well enough –
These are from one of the small “connector” causeways that are around the island. I clambered down over the guard rail and snapped a few pics…..
Off to the bridge – because that is where the moon rises this time of year.
And there it is – the moon. Super bright – and lovely – a lot of clouds so this made for snapping a clear picture harder
