Just A Maine Girl Embarking on Adventures

My mom’s friend, Anne Roy, is an indispensable part of the Acadian Village in Van Buren (<- link to official page).  She and I had chit chatted before, and I wanted to stop in and take a few photos. So finally, I needed a few moments to unwind, this was as good a time as any! There wasn’t a lot of sun, which of course, in houses that had no electricity, presented challenges.

The above house is the Morneault House, donated to the Village by my Grandmother, Norma Beaupre. I’d never been in it, but I do remember “where” the house stood when I was a young tot. I opted on some photos to yank up the ISO, so that in post processing I’d get a grainer feel, that age instead of glossy and shiny.

Outdoor stuff to work shops!  There is something everywhere to see (and photograph).

The church is cute, and has some nifty features.  Next time I need to bring a soft light to help w/the darker aspects of shooting there.

I cannot imagine what school was like in such a schoolhouse, but I can’t see kids now a day sin those small desks and chairs either!

There is truly a little bit of everything at the Acadian Village in Van Buren, ME (<- link to facebook page!). Their exhibits change yearly and Anne is putting together a new and exciting one!

If you have time and are around the area, PLEASE do stop in. If you are interested in Acadian History, or want to spend a short afternoon, and even have a picnic, please stop in. Donations are always welcome as well!
