After Ben & Jerry’s–7-19-2019

I went off after work Friday to Ben and Jerry’s!  You aren’t able to take pictures inside the place, and the ice cream was great!

Afterwards, I did get some time in two cemeteries.  Yes, you read that right……

You don’t really think of tombstones as beautiful, but they can be.

Bald Mountain/Bethlehem–7-18-2019

When I hit up Artist Bluff, I missed the walk up to Bald Mountain.  Since I had an early afternoon, but it was super hot (85+) I thought a short hike was a good idea.

IMG_6841IMG_6842IMG_6852IMG_6853IMG_6847IMG_6848IMG_6849IMG_6851

Great hike, less than a mile, but also you’re scrambling up and down over boulders.

IMG_6869IMG_6854IMG_6855IMG_6858IMG_6859IMG_6860IMG_6867IMG_6868

I finished my hike with a few more pictures.

IMG_6871IMG_6872IMG_6875IMG_6877IMG_6870

Then I hooked over to Bethlehem, grabbed some food and walked some more.  Because, hiking isn’t walking is it?

 IMG_6898IMG_6881IMG_6884IMG_6885IMG_6886IMG_6887IMG_6888IMG_6891IMG_6892IMG_6893IMG_6894IMG_6895IMG_6897

I was still working on the patterns challenge (see previous post) and found a few on this short, but satisfying walk through this cute town.

Prospect Mountain–7-16-2019

I got rained on.  I drove to the top of the area, intent on taking a few pics and then – downpour!

I never got to hike.

IMG_6805IMG_6807IMG_6796IMG_6797IMG_6798IMG_6800IMG_6802IMG_6803

The tower was worth the drive to be honest, fun place!  And a few great pictures as well.

IMG_6829IMG_6832IMG_6824IMG_6826

I’ll have to go back and hike the trails – on a day that it isn’t going to rain.

Bemis Brook–7-15-2019

I wanted a short hike after work, and this was it.  Just under 3 miles near Arethusa Falls.

  IMG_6729IMG_6719IMG_6722IMG_6723IMG_6727IMG_6728

As you can see, I got a new prop.  Wonder Woman!

And my keys.

What a fun little hike, and quiet.  Definitely somewhere I’d go again just for fun.

Covered Bridge–7-12-2019

After work, I decided to go out galivanting.  I came across a covered bridge.

IMG_6629IMG_6620IMG_6621IMG_6622IMG_6624IMG_6628IMG_6625IMG_6627

I like the above picture, framing it was fun, since there were cars whizzing by me at times.

IMG_6642IMG_6630IMG_6633IMG_6634IMG_6636IMG_6639IMG_6640IMG_6641

Some of the reflections in the water were stellar that day!  As well as the clouds that came in.

Capturing flowing water in the full sun, without an ND filter, is a fun task.  I had to do a lot of fiddling with my settings.

Challenge: Patterns

I have a hard time with patterns I am an “odd sock” kind of girl.  You know the things that stand out?

So this challenge took some work!

IMG_6884

While walking around in Bethlehem, I came across these great windows.  I’ve shot them before, but this time I found the one I liked the best, and found the pattern.

IMG_6888

The shingles of the same house as the windows lent themselves to more of those lovely patterns.

IMG_6892

Nuts and bolts.  Patterns.  Rusty ones at that!

More nuts and bolts on a covered bridge.IMG_6628

This is the curved wood of the covered bridge.  Light, dark, dark, light.

IMG_6824

Bricks!  This was on Prospect Mountain, the home that was at the top of the mountain, it had a great older red brick patio.

My jaunt over to Vermont and this is a state building, I just kinna liked it.

Milkyway–07-07-2019

Being home means dark nights and not having to go to far for milkyway pics.  I wanted to head up to the mountain overlook, 1 – I don’t have an ATV anymore and 2 – the milkyway would have been out of sight from that vantage point.

IMG_6576IMG_6577IMG_6578IMG_6563IMG_6567IMG_6570IMG_6574IMG_6575

See those bright yellow streaks?  Those are fireflies!  Yes I got photobombed by fireflies.  Which was, sort of cool!

IMG_6589IMG_6591IMG_6579IMG_6580IMG_6581IMG_6582IMG_6587IMG_6588

A lot of shooting stars this time around, as well as the “red” streaks which I suspect are satellites.  It was also hellva windy which made the trees move.  I went back and forth between 20, 25 and 30 second shots.

IMG_6602IMG_6604IMG_6592IMG_6595IMG_6598IMG_6599IMG_6600IMG_6601

Jupiter was also out and about last night.  These were all taken within less than a mile from home.

IMG_6615IMG_6616IMG_6605IMG_6609IMG_6610IMG_6611IMG_6612IMG_6614

I then plopped myself in a potato field and took the last batch of pics.  I was getting slightly tired and cold!  But a great night over all, fireflies and all!
