Quarantine Photo Shoot 2–3.31.2020

Still locked up (not really, but you all know what I mean!) and today I banged out a few photos in about 20-30 mins.  This is keeping me on my toes, so I’ll keep doing them!

A little history about that paperweight.  My bestest friend in grad school, Jason – left in 1982/83 – and the next time he visited (we were 12ish?) Jason tossed this box at me, and almost took my head off (Yes he loves me!) and inside was this – I’ve had it ever since and I always keep it where I can see it.  And today, it came out to play Smile

That is not a normal sized slinky!  It’s a mini 🙂 – something I must have picked up somewhere.  I also bought some cheap white boards – Again, working on a lot of different post processing methods.

IMG_8946IMG_8952IMG_8954IMG_8958IMG_8959IMG_8959-2IMG_8961IMG_8964IMG_8964-2IMG_8965IMG_8968IMG_8972IMG_8970

The sand is from the White Sands in New Mexico.  I played around with some texture and backing – and moving around a light source.

IMG_8984IMG_8975IMG_8975-2IMG_8977IMG_8978IMG_8979IMG_8980IMG_8980-2

I found a bunch of free plug ins/presets – and have been playing around w/them and I have to admit – some of them are great!  This concludes my latest fast photo shoot!

The Basin–Lazy Day–7-28-2019

We had some killer heat the last week in NH and there was no long distance hiking to be had!

So I hit up the Basin one afternoon, with my camera and a towel to hang out.

IMG_7043IMG_7045IMG_7026IMG_7027IMG_7031IMG_7032IMG_7036IMG_7042

You can’t beat the water here in NH, clear and always flowing.  And the mushrooms are in abundance!

IMG_7049IMG_7048IMG_7050IMG_7063IMG_7058IMG_7061

Yes, that IS A smurf!

I picked him up when shopping for Hardy Boy books on the weekend.  I thought, well mushrooms = smurfs, right?

Bemis Brook–7-15-2019

I wanted a short hike after work, and this was it.  Just under 3 miles near Arethusa Falls.

  IMG_6729IMG_6719IMG_6722IMG_6723IMG_6727IMG_6728

As you can see, I got a new prop.  Wonder Woman!

And my keys.

IMG_6750IMG_6752IMG_6731IMG_6736IMG_6740IMG_6743IMG_6747IMG_6748

What a fun little hike, and quiet.  Definitely somewhere I’d go again just for fun.

06-04-2019 – Arethusa Falls

I saw this parking lot a few weeks ago, and I knew after the pictures I saw online I wanted to go there.  I also need to go back for Bemis and Frankenstein Cliffs!

IMG_5667-2IMG_5687IMG_5693IMG_5697IMG_5671IMG_5678IMG_5683IMG_5685

This is a moderate hike, not a lot of mud, you can hear the running water most of the time.  And then you see it.

IMG_5703IMG_5703-2IMG_5706IMG_5708IMG_5708-2IMG_5712IMG_5714IMG_5716

After clambering around and getting down to the creek, you can scamper right up next to the falls if you are so brave!  I didn’t feel like getting wet Smile

IMG_5733IMG_5747IMG_5719IMG_5725IMG_5727IMG_5728IMG_5728-2IMG_5732

I fiddled with some settings.  And a few things in lightroom – which is STILL a learning curve!

Bridal Veil Trail–4.22.19

I decided to hit up the trail after work.  I didn’t make it TO the falls, because – well I am slow and I take pictures!  I will have to hit it up at noon on a nice cloudy afternoon this summer.

IMG_4472IMG_4473IMG_4475IMG_4477IMG_4479IMG_4480

After about a mile, I knew I was not going to get to the 2.5 miles in mark to the actual water falls, but I also knew I heard running water!  Off the trail and into the woods we go!

IMG_4481IMG_4482IMG_4483IMG_4488IMG_4490IMG_4492

Yes the keys are back!  I have another “series” I’m working on, but I do think that will be an instagram only gig!

IMG_4503IMG_4514IMG_4519IMG_4524IMG_4496IMG_4498

Very worth the dashing down and following the water!  Also, it was 74 in the woods and a nice, cool, 68 down here.  Also, prettier!

IMG_4534IMG_4535IMG_4542IMG_4543IMG_4548IMG_4551

I had to scamper around a lot, got dirty, and sweaty and had a blast.  Part of the down side of being away from home is, well, being away from home.  The upside, is the experience and the adventures I can have.

Swift Water – 10-19-2018

Of course, a conversation with Wendy (and a pt) led me to Swift River!  Cute covered bridge with some fun water.  I’m hoping I’m here when it thaws, the water must be amazing!

Photographing running water like this is far, far better on a cloudy day as you are allowing your lens to stay “open” longer to capture the motion, making that blur.  Sunny days means a wash out or you can use an ND filter.  Which I have, but am still learning to master.

The hiking season is slowly coming to a close – but I’m hoping to get some good “cold/winter” ones in before there is to much snow on the ground to do it!

Rocks is this amazing place, the views are wonderful and the trails to hike are great too.  The colors and the sun were popping that day too!

Mount Washington already has something in the area of 18 inches of snow – it does make for something pretty to look at!
