Bemis Brook–7-15-2019

I wanted a short hike after work, and this was it.  Just under 3 miles near Arethusa Falls.

  IMG_6729IMG_6719IMG_6722IMG_6723IMG_6727IMG_6728

As you can see, I got a new prop.  Wonder Woman!

And my keys.

What a fun little hike, and quiet.  Definitely somewhere I’d go again just for fun.

Saddaday Falls–5.5.2019

It was gloomy when I got up, so decided to drive around the Kanc and ended up at Saddaday Falls, even this time of year the trail heads are already packed.

IMG_5346IMG_5352IMG_5353IMG_5356IMG_5358IMG_5362

Before I got to the falls, I tucked in to this other spot on the way.  With the melt the waters are running fast and hard and kind of dirty to!

IMG_5365IMG_5366IMG_5367IMG_5368IMG_5369IMG_5372

The falls is a short hike, but sometimes the better attraction is the river that leads you to the falls.

IMG_5381IMG_5387IMG_5388IMG_5373IMG_5375IMG_5378

There was still snow on the ground in many places.  And the water was cold, but the walk/hike was fun and I got to take my time and snap a few pictures.

Bridal Veil Trail–4.22.19

I decided to hit up the trail after work.  I didn’t make it TO the falls, because – well I am slow and I take pictures!  I will have to hit it up at noon on a nice cloudy afternoon this summer.

IMG_4472IMG_4473IMG_4475IMG_4477IMG_4479IMG_4480

After about a mile, I knew I was not going to get to the 2.5 miles in mark to the actual water falls, but I also knew I heard running water!  Off the trail and into the woods we go!

IMG_4481IMG_4482IMG_4483IMG_4488IMG_4490IMG_4492

Yes the keys are back!  I have another “series” I’m working on, but I do think that will be an instagram only gig!

IMG_4503IMG_4514IMG_4519IMG_4524IMG_4496IMG_4498

Very worth the dashing down and following the water!  Also, it was 74 in the woods and a nice, cool, 68 down here.  Also, prettier!

IMG_4534IMG_4535IMG_4542IMG_4543IMG_4548IMG_4551

I had to scamper around a lot, got dirty, and sweaty and had a blast.  Part of the down side of being away from home is, well, being away from home.  The upside, is the experience and the adventures I can have.

After Work Runaround–4.19.19

After work I decided, since it was nice to hit up a few places and see how the water was flowing and what things I could snap pics of!

Swift Water – 10-19-2018

Of course, a conversation with Wendy (and a pt) led me to Swift River!  Cute covered bridge with some fun water.  I’m hoping I’m here when it thaws, the water must be amazing!

Photographing running water like this is far, far better on a cloudy day as you are allowing your lens to stay “open” longer to capture the motion, making that blur.  Sunny days means a wash out or you can use an ND filter.  Which I have, but am still learning to master.

The hiking season is slowly coming to a close – but I’m hoping to get some good “cold/winter” ones in before there is to much snow on the ground to do it!

Fish River Falls–10-08-2018

My wife and I went out leaf peeping when I was up home.

I took the above with my cell phone, as much as some folks say they “look the same” as DSLRs, I can always see the difference.

I hadn’t ever been to Fish River Falls, neither had my wife, who got all adventurous on me and we trekked along the side of the river for a bit, running around on rocks.  fun!

Glen Ellis Falls–9-12-2018

Stairs and gorgeous moving water.  A new challenge for me, we don’t have much of that in Northern Maine, I can tell you that!

It’s a great hike, with wonderful views.  The one great thing about getting out early is being able to go do these things with no crowds!

Its far easier to take these pictures than the big grand vistas.  They have everything you want, movement, texture, perspective.
