We just recently purchase the property next door, the one that I began my life at.  The old occupant – left behind some stuff… Including

I’ve been playing around with more focus, and depth of field, aperture, etc.  Sometimes finding a good subject to practice on is difficult, other times you need to make things up.

And  then, the sky changed.  It moved from dark and foreboding to pink and glorious.

Until now, I’d had a film camera – then my lovely wife bought me my first DSLR – a 10meg pix Canon Rebel SL – bare basic, stripped down camera.

I still had my bare basic SL at this time, which is STILL in my closet, btw.  However, I was steadfast that when I got home I was getting an “all in one” lens because hoofing around a wide angle and a telephoto was getting heavy.

I love doors, well, I love a lot of things.  This is in Taos, New Mexico in the pueblos.  What a gorgeous area.

Ah, I spent the year here, in Deer Isle.  A lovely angry sky night!

I was out chasing the light one evening and ended up not where I thought I was going – I took a left and not a right – I ended up here, close to a private peer, I think.  And I got some great purple light that night!

One of my first digital shots.  I was walking our dog, Storm by the tracks and off these guys flew over head.  I took this from “the hip”

This is Storm, she was sad this day because the retaining wall had literally fallen – thanks to the flooding!

The house pictures are my friend, Kasey’s home.  I did a series of black and white and color and the B/W are FAR better looking than the color- and then Mr. Hummingbird.

Aw, winter months!  The world looks far different when it’s covered in white and cold.

Perspective.

Remy and Storm.

Remy is our resident flirt and Storm was our “big dog” for 15 years.  She wasn’t a jump on the couch when we were there, but she did like to stick her nose up over the edge and give you “that look”.

2016

2016 brought me back to New Mexico, a job fell through, and back I went.  Not to northern NM, but more south.

No.  Snow!

2016-IMG_20160322_065030356_HDR

So this guy!  I was staying at an RV site, what had tiny cabins (awesome deal, btw!!) – and caught a glimpse of something behind my car before taking off for a day of exploring.  You got it – a peacock!

2016-hdr-IMG_3520

Space museum – a cool afternoon, and a wicked looking building – the reflection was great!  I never got around to going there at sunset.

2016-hdr-IMG_3526

Some hiking pics – an old 1800s train track – and the Carlsbad Caverns (which was cool!)

My romantic wife sent me flowers and, of course, that I had to take a picture.

Weekend–AM to PM 9.23.2017

My childhood friend, Melissa, aka Mac, came to the Island this weekend.  She too, has a lovely Canon Rebel and we spent all of Saturday running around taking pictures – here are mine

The village of Stonington, Maine is just – well – breathtaking

I started playing with my F settings and exposure – a few of my photos were “washed” out – however, I was able to recover much of it with my photo editor.

To end the day (Before food that is!) we hit up Sand Beach – tide was still high – but it was still a breathtaking sight to see.

After Work Snaps 4.3.2017

Since we are supposed to get rain for the next few days – I decided that I was skipping the gym and hitting the sunset beat.

There are tons of nooks and crannies here in Deer Isle and Stonington.  I’m having fun seeking them out and I know I haven’t even scratched the surface.

There are various beaches here on the Island, and learning just where the sun sets and rises, is an every changing curve – getting to know the island while driving for work has its advantages Smile

Deer Isle and Stonington, Maine

I really do enjoy this island – after work on a Friday, I decided to go snapping pictures instead of going to the gym.

I don’t get “sunsets” where I am living, instead I get that sweet glow of blue, oranges, and yellows – which can be better sometimes.
