Quarantine Photo Shoot #3–04-05-2020

Look at this! Glitter!  My wife came to to me having glitter on my face……this is the crazy stuff going on ppl!

IMG_8986IMG_8988IMG_8992IMG_8993IMG_9003IMG_9006IMG_8995IMG_9000IMG_9001

I had some left over glitter, and a mini bucket – voila!  Nothing goes to waste – thankfully, my kittens haven’t gotten into it – yet!

IMG_9010IMG_9017IMG_9019IMG_9021IMG_9054IMG_9023IMG_9024IMG_9025IMG_9027IMG_9031IMG_9055IMG_9035IMG_9036IMG_9037IMG_9038IMG_9039IMG_9041IMG_9048IMG_9049IMG_9050IMG_9051

I’m working on light and shadows – and light sources – I used a stationary light to cast shadows from different angles.  Something we had in the cellar.  Then in post, using lightroom, I’m working on different processing.  Preserving the colors and not washing them out, and not darkening the shadows to much either.

IMG_9078IMG_9079IMG_9057IMG_9058IMG_9059IMG_9060IMG_9061IMG_9063IMG_9064IMG_9065IMG_9066IMG_9068IMG_9071IMG_9072IMG_9073IMG_9075IMG_9076IMG_9077

I bought 3 small buckets for a buck, and a bag of letters!  I didn’t know what I was going to do with the letters at the time, but then, voila!  Part of these photoshoots are about pushing imagination.  And – you know, glitter!

IMG_9082IMG_9083IMG_9084IMG_9086IMG_9088IMG_9103IMG_9089IMG_9090IMG_9096IMG_9097IMG_9100IMG_9101IMG_9102

The teapot is something that I found up in a cabinet – it’s Jules’.  I strung my keys on a bracelet that we bought somewhere for a few bucks.  The background is some sort of cooking things.  Yeah, not kidding!  Of course, I have my keys which always make an appearance.

Love will conquer all – That’s all for this installment!

10-04-19–FALL CHALLENGE~

Hey, guess what – it’s Fall!

That’s right, winter is coming……

Don’t shoot the messenger.  My friend, Shell and I have these bi-monthly challenges going and of course, I hit up fall for this one.  It is October!

We are allowed 5 photos (I do have honorable mentions this time around)

01-IMG_7981

I was coming back from Maine, when I decided to go off the GPS path – and I spotted his in the water.  It’s a mini rock island, with a flag and a brilliant tree.  Took me a few shots to get the reflection “just” right.

I drove through Groveton my way to the hike that didn’t happen – and this is a bridge one of my former pts has often said “I’m going to go live under my bridge”.  I did show her this picture and she agreed that it captured the bridge in its full glory of fall.

I did a turn around when I saw this old barn and this wonderfully full color tree growing in front of it.

05 - IMG_7905

I saw THREE bridges on my hike that never happened – this was the 1st.  Nothing spectacular, a one lane covered bridge.  It was the clear water under it that I wanted to capture.  After popping on my boots, slogging through wet underbrush – I snagged a few red and orange leaves on the shore and some clouds doing a build up to the rain that would eventually wash out my hike.

The last on my list is from my walk at The Dells – every time I go there I get a few great snaps.

The sun was coming down, the leaves at the Dells are more yellow than bright red and orange.  I thought this captured the spirit of the Dells.

Honorable mentions are below.

Winter is coming folks!  Enjoy the last of the fall.

Grafton Notch–NOT!–09-28-2019

Sunday I decided to head to Grafton Notch in Maine.  Found a shorter trail, looked up the weather (no rain until 5pm) we are good to go!

IMG_7911IMG_7899IMG_7900IMG_7904IMG_7906IMG_7907IMG_7908

Firs stop – a bridge!  With just enough color for it to make for a good picture.

IMG_7912IMG_7928IMG_7913IMG_7914IMG_7919IMG_7920IMG_7924

Next stop – another bridge!  This one in Groveton!  The sky was crazy!  The light was weird, but it still made for some good photos!

IMG_7952IMG_7937IMG_7939IMG_7942IMG_7948IMG_7929

Then I stopped in Stark and look, another bridge!  I find it odd that the church seemed to have horns – just saying.

IMG_7966IMG_7952IMG_7964IMG_7965IMG_7963IMG_7955IMG_7961

And more color and one really cool flag planted in the middle of the water and a great reflection.

Challenge – Framing

This challenge had to do with “framing” your photos.  Using something natural, or otherwise, to block out the focus of what you wanted focused on.

I am NOT good at it!

But here is what I got.

  IMG_7653

The least framed one, this sun flair, yet one of my faves, because – well – sun flair!!

IMG_7654IMG_7671IMG_7501

This was my first attempted (above) at using something natural to frame what you want to focus on.  Nature isn’t always your friend.  But I left it in the collection as while not good, it does force you to think harder to get better at your craft.

Overlooking the town of – Bath, NH.  Looking thru two trees.  Putting forth a challenge is fun, gives you the motivation to go out and “try” new things.

Onto the next!

Sunset–08-18-2019

On the way home from Boston, via Portland – I saw the clouds and the sky changing so I pulled over and voila!

IMG_7325IMG_7326IMG_7327IMG_7328IMG_7329IMG_7330IMG_7336IMG_7337IMG_7338IMG_7340IMG_7339

Back Yard Beauty and Mizpah–8-6-2019

We sent up to Mizpah for a short walk with Archer.  He is not always a fan of riding in the truck.

Then home to a gorgeous sunset.IMG_7217IMG_7219IMG_7218

‘nuff said.

After Work Drive–9-27-2018

Some days I get out early.  Some days far later.  On this day: early.  I sent out to just “take some pictures.”  Most were 5-10 mins photo stops.  Here we go!

The beauty of this area is there is always something to take pictures of. Old buildings, or stone walls, or wicked reflections, or… flowing water….

I drove around towards Crawford Notch. Stop on here and there for more pictures. Caught the sun off some mountains.

Then I made a stop at Silver Cascade (I think that’s the name!) and made a quick jaunt up that, and again, more flowing water!  Then on the way home, I found Fourth Iron camping grounds and stop there before I lost the light.
