When a girl is bored!

I was working on shadows, and light, and using the white background to my advantage.

Picking up things around the house and making for a scene is a good stretch of imagination.

I do like the glitter.  I don’t know why – it does capture great on “film”.

IMG_9193IMG_9182IMG_9185IMG_9188IMG_9189IMG_9190IMG_9191

The background is some cooking implement I found at the bottom of the cabinets.  And my lego heroes!  The rainbow is popsicle sticks that I glued to a backboard.

I wanted to run a test on what the dominos look like in the light and how shadowy they get, and how well they rebound light.

IMG_9201IMG_9203IMG_9204IMG_9208IMG_9209IMG_9215IMG_9217

The coils? Cat toys.  My mini buckets and a bag of marbles I bought at the dollar store.

My popsicle stick background.  My keys.  Smile

IMG_9252IMG_9255IMG_9248IMG_9250IMG_9238IMG_9243

A ring my wife bought me ages ago.  I wanted to see if I could capture the green reflection on the gold.

IMG_9262IMG_9268IMG_9263IMG_9265IMG_9267

I’ve some crystals hiding around and the sun was hitting it just right to capture the rainbows on the white background.

T-t-thats all folks!

Quarantine Photo Shoot #3–04-05-2020

Look at this! Glitter!  My wife came to to me having glitter on my face……this is the crazy stuff going on ppl!

IMG_8986IMG_8988IMG_8992IMG_8993IMG_9003IMG_9006IMG_8995IMG_9000IMG_9001

I had some left over glitter, and a mini bucket – voila!  Nothing goes to waste – thankfully, my kittens haven’t gotten into it – yet!

IMG_9010IMG_9017IMG_9019IMG_9021IMG_9054IMG_9023IMG_9024IMG_9025IMG_9027IMG_9031IMG_9055IMG_9035IMG_9036IMG_9037IMG_9038IMG_9039IMG_9041IMG_9048IMG_9049IMG_9050IMG_9051

I’m working on light and shadows – and light sources – I used a stationary light to cast shadows from different angles.  Something we had in the cellar.  Then in post, using lightroom, I’m working on different processing.  Preserving the colors and not washing them out, and not darkening the shadows to much either.

IMG_9078IMG_9079IMG_9057IMG_9058IMG_9059IMG_9060IMG_9061IMG_9063IMG_9064IMG_9065IMG_9066IMG_9068IMG_9071IMG_9072IMG_9073IMG_9075IMG_9076IMG_9077

I bought 3 small buckets for a buck, and a bag of letters!  I didn’t know what I was going to do with the letters at the time, but then, voila!  Part of these photoshoots are about pushing imagination.  And – you know, glitter!

IMG_9082IMG_9083IMG_9084IMG_9086IMG_9088IMG_9103IMG_9089IMG_9090IMG_9096IMG_9097IMG_9100IMG_9101IMG_9102

The teapot is something that I found up in a cabinet – it’s Jules’.  I strung my keys on a bracelet that we bought somewhere for a few bucks.  The background is some sort of cooking things.  Yeah, not kidding!  Of course, I have my keys which always make an appearance.

IMG_9104IMG_9105IMG_9106IMG_9107IMG_9108IMG_9111IMG_9112IMG_9113IMG_9114IMG_9115IMG_9116IMG_9118IMG_9123IMG_9126IMG_9127IMG_9134IMG_9135

Love will conquer all – That’s all for this installment!

Quarantine Photo Shoot–3.26.2020

As the world knows, we’re on lock down.  So I’ve been slightly bored, and sick, I have bronchitis.  But, I was feeling creative the other day.  Out came the camera!

IMG_8787IMG_8791IMG_8793IMG_8794IMG_8794-2IMG_8795IMG_8796IMG_8797IMG_8798IMG_8802IMG_8804IMG_8805IMG_8807

Firstly, meet Domino – he’s one of our new kittens (his brother, Nimbus comes around later) – He decided to photobomb me.  I have been watching a lot of Peter Peter Mckinnon on youtube,  He’s a vid blogger from O Canada and his style of photography is wicked cool. I can’t afford his presets – but I have watched most of his videos so I’ve been recreating some.  He has some great early vids about texture, and etc.  Very much worth a watch!

IMG_8808IMG_8809IMG_8810IMG_8811IMG_8812IMG_8813IMG_8814IMG_8815IMG_8817IMG_8818IMG_8819IMG_8821IMG_8824IMG_8825IMG_8829IMG_8830IMG_8831IMG_8840IMG_8848IMG_8849IMG_8850IMG_8851IMG_8852IMG_8855IMG_8856IMG_8857IMG_8859

I spent a year and a quarter of my PTA career in Stonington, ME.  One of the things I loved to do, was find places to photography the sunset, or even the middle of the day.  Inevitably, you find sea glass.  I’d always go home with a pocket full, and then come home to Northern Maine, and put them in jars.  My sister in law was kind enough to give me a few new ones so I spent a some time dividing them into smaller, color coded jars.  When the sun hit, it really picks up the colors.  I used a basket for some textured background.  And my keys made an appearance, of course.

IMG_8861IMG_8864IMG_8865IMG_8870IMG_8872IMG_8874IMG_8875IMG_8877IMG_8880

As you can see, Domino came back for a 2nd guest appearance.  I took out my lens extenders, that changes the focal point and allows you to take pictures closer in macro.

IMG_8883IMG_8884IMG_8885IMG_8886IMG_8887IMG_8888IMG_8889IMG_8891IMG_8890

Say hello to Nimbus – he is more of a poser and decided that my photo table was now “his” and I decided to do some snaps of the lil guy.

IMG_8892IMG_8895IMG_8896IMG_8897IMG_8908IMG_8909

After Nimbus took his leave, I played some more with a few objects – and then in post, several different *looks*.  I’m going to try and do at least one day of photos a week during this lock down time, gotta do something, right?

3-10-2018

I had been feeling super uninspired lately – then on a day Jules was working – I had a little bit of good light and decided to take the bull by the horns and snaps a few pics of this glorious camera a friend of mine gave me.
