05-23-2020–Milkyway

My first stop, after getting some establishing shots on teh track,  was Pelletier Island’s causeway.  While driving one evening, I eyeballed it and thought I might have a good shot at some photos.  I was correct!

IMG_9543IMG_9565IMG_9561IMG_9561-2IMG_9562IMG_9562-2IMG_9563IMG_9563-2IMG_9564

Then, in my trek around the lake – I found myself at the boat landing – across from Pelletier Island!

IMG_9571IMG_9566IMG_9567IMG_9570

Then I stopped in at Lakeview, but no joy – it was behind the mountains.  So, me and the HRV took off and headed up towards Eagle Lake – and in a potato field…..

IMG_9573IMG_9575IMG_9574

I struck a bit of gold in the 1st photo.  A shoot star!  I get rather lucky when I go out and tend to catch one every time.

Sunsets & Superheroes–05-20-2020

Our friend, Jodi, got Jules and I some pop funko figures “just cuz” so I spent a few mins w/the kids taking some poses!

Then the sun began to set……

04-18-2020–Night Shoot and Sunrise

I decided it was time for a night shoot!  Shooting time is shorter, it seems.  I ventured out around 130 am, having left my camera outside to get used to the “cold” for a few hours.

IMG_9271IMG_9273IMG_9275IMG_9282IMG_9283IMG_9284IMG_9285IMG_9286IMG_9287IMG_9288IMG_9289IMG_9291IMG_9292IMG_9294

I headed up to Long Lake and none of the spots I wanted to shoot from were suitable (to much light).  I did find one, but I wasn’t happy with it.  So I ventured back towards Grand Isle and found a spot near the Golf Course.  After a few snaps there, I hit up the boat landing in Grand Isle.

IMG_9301IMG_9299IMG_9300

I noticed the moon was rising and headed into the sunset.  I had a place in mind.

IMG_9333IMG_9305IMG_9309IMG_9310IMG_9315IMG_9320IMG_9323IMG_9324

Victoria’s Tree!

I knew the sunrise wouldn’t be super crazy spectacular – no clouds to capture the light, but I knew the colors around the tree would be fabulous!

I was right!

And lastly – back yard beauty!

Back Yard Beauty and Mizpah–8-6-2019

We sent up to Mizpah for a short walk with Archer.  He is not always a fan of riding in the truck.

Then home to a gorgeous sunset.IMG_7217IMG_7219IMG_7218

‘nuff said.

Adventure with Rhys–8-5-2019

A yearly or biyearly thing, a day out with Rhys!

  IMG_7177IMG_7183IMG_7184IMG_7185

Rhys has this thing for “abandoned” house.  There are only so many out there, but we ventured around and found a few spots.

IMG_7187IMG_7188IMG_7192IMG_7193

We worked on Sunflares and angles and seeing the “big picture” this time.

IMG_7196IMG_7204IMG_7205

We stopped in at an old caboose that Rhys had fun with.  of course, he really wanted to get inside – but alas – it was locked!

IMG_7160IMG_7162IMG_7164IMG_7165

I got a new buddy, the Green Arrow!

IMG_7166IMG_7167IMG_7169IMG_7170IMG_7171IMG_7174

An awesome field of yellow!

IMG_7207IMG_7209

The day ended with Viv visiting as well, I do think Archer liked her.

Milky Way–8-4-2019

When I come home, clear nights are for going out and checking out the lovely light show that is our universe.

IMG_7118IMG_7121IMG_7122IMG_7124IMG_7125IMG_7130IMG_7126IMG_7129

I did drag my wife with me for some of it and she sat in the car.  Smile – but she came!

IMG_7149IMG_7131IMG_7133IMG_7142IMG_7143IMG_7144IMG_7145IMG_7146

I did a lot of fiddling with lights and exposure and trying to get more than trees as my foreground.  I think some worked, some didn’t, but its all a learning process!

IMG_7151IMG_7154IMG_7157IMG_7158IMG_7150

I am super happy with some of them.  Some I wish they’d turned out better, but its all in the fun of it and the adventure!

Back Yard Beauty–8-2-2019

This is sort of an on going series for me. Since I am only home for short periods of time, my back yard and home take on an ethereal feel for me.

IMG_7083IMG_7084IMG_7086

Archer had fun in the lovely back field that was planted this year behind our house.

IMG_7087IMG_7088IMG_7089IMG_7090

There is something about the “wide openness” of Maine, more so in The Valley and Aroostook County.

IMG_7091IMG_7093IMG_7104

Archer enjoying the huge back yard, and his big ball he loves to lick for hours.

IMG_7107IMG_7115IMG_7109IMG_7110IMG_7108

There really is no place like home.

07-04-2018

While some were watching fireworks, I was watching the sunset.

Acadian Village, Van Buren, ME–6-20-2018

My mom’s friend, Anne Roy, is an indispensable part of the Acadian Village in Van Buren (<- link to official page).  She and I had chit chatted before, and I wanted to stop in and take a few photos. So finally, I needed a few moments to unwind, this was as good a time as any! There wasn’t a lot of sun, which of course, in houses that had no electricity, presented challenges.

The above house is the Morneault House, donated to the Village by my Grandmother, Norma Beaupre. I’d never been in it, but I do remember “where” the house stood when I was a young tot. I opted on some photos to yank up the ISO, so that in post processing I’d get a grainer feel, that age instead of glossy and shiny.

The church is cute, and has some nifty features.  Next time I need to bring a soft light to help w/the darker aspects of shooting there.

I cannot imagine what school was like in such a schoolhouse, but I can’t see kids now a day sin those small desks and chairs either!
